The Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center faced some unique challenges in choosing a traffic topping waterproofing system that would protect their parking deck from corrosion and provide a long-lasting and reliable skid-resistant surface.
Waterproofing Challenges:
- The garage is extremely busy during weekdays; therefore, the system had to be installed over a weekend and be ready for traffic by Monday morning.
- The garage deck is constructed of pre-cast panels with many joints; therefore, the waterproofing system needed to be flexible enough to give with the joints, but durable enough to resist very heavy traffic.

- Due to the weather conditions in Pittsburgh, PA, the waterproofing system needed to provide UV stability, long-lasting skid-resistance and protect the deck from corrosion caused from rain and deicing salts, while being resistant to winter snowplows.
